Presenter: CATHERINE LANGSDORF
Sponsor: Inland Empire/Pomona Valley Chapter
About this workshop: Online mini workshop with Catherine Langsdorf, scribe. We will focus on calligraphic flourishes and decorative florals. Students will explore the small, pointed brush marker to build up floral motifs. These designs can be used in journals, on cards and envelopes, and with frame-able art. Students will work along with the instructor to create a finished wreath of florals. Learning how to use and exploit the flexibility of a pointed brush on botanical embellishments will train the calligrapher’s hand in skills applicable to various alphabets.
The three learning units include 1) learning the tool and building a range of elements, 2) creating botanical motifs, and 3) making a wreath. Various techniques will be shared (measurement shortcuts and writing in a circle.) Prior to the workshop, color handouts will be provided for students to print. Participants will be encouraged to ask questions and to show their completed project.
All levels welcome. Workshop will be recorded and available for a month.
