  • Workshop with Yukimi Annand

Instructor: Yukimi Annand

Sponsor: San Fernando Valley Regional

Workshop Description: In this workshop we will play with line shape and movement by creating one-stroke letters based on Roman capitals. Our form development will be contemporary rather than traditional, and we ill play with decorative patterns and colors in harmony.

The first half of the class: making variations of one-stroke letters with a pencil or a fine line marker. Then we will move to the ruling pen and/or folded pen to draw them with Sumi ink. We will try to get a nice balance on each letter, and write words and text with rhythm and movement.

The second half of the class: we will apply different decorative patterns based on historical and nature forms on the letters with a fine-line marker or a pointed nib. Choosing the space to decorate and to add colors (with watercolor or watercolor pencil) will be fun!

First half of class will run from 10am - 12:00pm, we will have a one hour lunch break, then Second half of class will run from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.

A zoom recording of the workshop will be made available to registered and paid participants for up to 45 days from the workshop date.
