Preparations for Retreat 2023 are underway........The Annual Spring retreat is a weekend that finds artists from all parts of California, and beyond, descending upon Westmont College, in beautiful Santa Barbara. Everyone works together in the Scriptorium, a large art room--we have the bottom floor and patio to ourselves and we use the adjacent hallway/seating area to exhibit our own work and as an area for our make-and-take project demos.
The college has a small art museum, with wonderful exhibits.
You work (or not) on your own projects with no phones or urgent demands. Some people bring their laptops, some bring fun projects to share with others, we usually always have some activity going on for your optional participation. If there is something you would like to share/teach with others please let Kristi know.
The patio area will be set up for eco-dying (you can bind that into books), paste paper, cyanotype, walnut ink and bleach.
Guests and spouses are welcome. SfC membership is not required for this event. Artists of all types attend this event, giving all of us the opportunity to expand our horizons!
Note: like at many college campuses, our dorms are not right next to our Scriptorium. It's a great walk for those who want exercise. For those with physical challenges, driving is an option.
