Description:

How to Design, Draw, and Watercolor Labels - you will learn drawing and painting techniques for creating captivating illustrations to combine with your own calligraphy for labels on wine bottles, homemade jams, gift jars, a Limoncello bottle, and more. You’ll learn just enough color theory to help you mix vibrant colors and to avoid color mixing disasters. You’ll learn which colors create harmony in your work and which catch your viewers eye! Instruction will include design principles for compelling artwork, plus practical tips for materials you can purchase to print your own labels.

This program is open to both members and non-members. Be sure to bring a friend, just be sure they are registered. ZOOM info sent before program.

Materials Needed:

• 6 pieces Arches/other favorite 5"x7", 140 lb. cold press watercolor paper • Few sheets of copier/drawing paper (for sketching your label ideas) • Kneaded eraser • Non-smudging graphite pencil, such as H or HB • Reference material for image and lettering • Calligraphy supplies for lettering on your labels • Palette of watercolor paints with space for mixing colors. • Watercolor brushes: #6 round brush, a smaller brush for detail, a rigger brush #1 or 2, and optionally, a #10 round brush.
